This family commissioned me to create their portraits last spring and I fell in love with them back then. When Mom set up this session, she told me that they were moving away from their beautiful Charlotte home and wanted to have some special family photos made before they left. Literally, right before. The day after these photos were made, the movers started packing.
This home has so many special memories to the N family. They did lots of remodeling, the home couldn’t have been in a better location (the Charlotte skyline in their yard’s horizon). But most of all, they created such a wonderful life here… their daughters were born, they made friends and entertained, they watched their children grow, took walks to the Greenway, and savored their journey that is life in the Queen City.
This session definitely has more of a lifestyle feel to it… it is less posed, lots of family interaction in the beautiful home in Wesley Heights. It is about the home as much as the family that lives there. I LOVE doing “day in the life” sessions like these, or “lifestyle”.
I am very sad to see them go, although I know it will be a good move for them– they will be moving closer to family. I struggle with that at times, as my husband and I are Charlotte transplants, and the rest of our family is in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
N family, thank you so much for having me create these special portraits for you. I wish you all the joy in the world as you move into your new home, and into all the loving arms that await you up north!
