a loved life

(brutus in younger days)

this is a very sad day for brutus’ family.  it’s sad for me too, as his neighbor.  brutus loved his mommy so fiercely, so unconditionally, so loyally.  he loved his whole family, but had been with his mommy for a very long time.  the bonds and love that we share with our pets is so deep, they almost become extensions of us.  they know when we’re sad and they comfort us.  they are so happy to see us, even if we’ve just left for an hour.  they look to us for everything.  to care for them, feed them, train them, love them, shelter them, and then once they have lived a meaningful, loved life, to let them go.  this is the hardest thing that we have to do for them.

Truly sorry for the loss. I’ve been through it many times. A dog loves with its whole heart, unconditionally. That’s precious.
